Acellus Academy’s online middle school courses cover the core subjects of mathematics, language arts and reading, science, and history and social studies. Each year, students can participate in up to six courses.
Our team collaborates with some of the best middle and junior high school teachers in the country to develop our online middle school curriculum. Each of our lessons includes engaging videos and interactive coursework, which pique the interest of students and ignites excitement around their classes.
Prism Diagnostics™, our proprietary technology that identifies deficiencies in a student’s academic background, gives students a unique opportunity to receive further instruction in problem areas. Coursework is designed to cater to students in each grade level as they prepare for high school in the upcoming years.
During middle school math, Acellus Academy students build on to the concepts they learned in elementary school while preparing for high school math. Our online math courses use Prism Diagnostics™ to ensure all students receive personalized learning experiences that are best suited for their individual needs. Struggling students receive any necessary assistance, while advanced students can accelerate through their courses.
Sixth through eighth grade math teaches Acellus Students the following topics:
Acellus Academy’s Language Arts and Reading curriculum for middle school students expands on the literary elements–such as grammar, spelling, and vocabulary–that they learned in elementary school. Students build their reading interpretation and writing skills as well as their ability to understand and comprehend various types of literature, including fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.
In addition to our Grade 6, Grade 7, and Grade 8 Language Arts and Reading courses, we have two courses that review basic literary elements. These classes are designed for students who may be struggling with our online middle school English curriculum. The classes give students the assistance and confidence they need to excel in high school language arts and reading classes.
Finally, Acellus Academy offers Discover English, an ESL course, is for students whose native language is not English. This course will help students master English as a second language.
Our middle school science curriculum teaches students about life, earth, and physical science. Grade 6 Science covers space and solar systems, electricity and magnetism, and Earth systems. Students also acquire a rudimentary understanding of physics.
After sixth grade, Acellus Academy students can choose between Life Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science, as well as two courses that review basic science concepts. Acellus Academy’s middle school science curriculum will set up students for success in their high school science classes.
Acellus Academy’s online middle school offers history and social studies courses that cover a wide variety of topics. These include everything from early civilization to modern-day conflicts as well as the past and present governments, cultures, and economies of countries around the world.
In addition to our Grade 6 and Grade 7 Social Studies classes, we offer American History, Ancient Civilizations, Geography, and Personal Finance.
Since Acellus was founded in Missouri, we created a class that dives into the state’s history and government, as well.
Our middle school history and social studies curriculum gives students a foundation for comprehending current events and understanding how to approach social, cultural, and political situations.
Electives let students experiment with interests outside of core subjects. Acellus offers coding courses that introduce fundamental building blocks to help students understand the language of coding. These courses are designed to introduce STEM ideas to students at a young age.
Health and physical education are important at all ages, but they are particularly important during a student’s middle school years. Middle School Health focuses on physical fitness, nutrition, mental and emotional well-being, personal hygiene, disease, personal safety, and first aid. As children begin to act for themselves, taking care of their minds and bodies is crucial for their long-term health and wellbeing.
