Sixth Grade Overview
Sixth grade is a crucial time for students as they transition from elementary school to middle school. Courses are much more in-depth and cover a broader scope of topics than previous courses. In sixth grade, students must become more independent when it comes to schoolwork—especially online students.
Acellus Academy’s goal is to provide a safe, but productive, learning environment. Each of our courses is made up of captivating video lessons and interactive coursework that sparks students’ curiosity and excitement. Our sixth grade curriculum involves a variety of subjects that allow students to explore potential interests. The courses cover the core subjects of math, language arts and reading, science, and history and social studies. We encourage students to take foreign languages and health and physical education courses as well.

Subjects Offered in Acellus Academy’s Online 6th Grade Program
Acellus Academy collaborates with highly qualified teachers to develop course materials that keep online students on track with their peers in traditional classroom settings. We offer remedial and special education courses, so students can get extra help when they need it and progress through lessons at their own pace.
All courses that are available to sixth grade students have important objectives and learning outcomes that they must attain before moving on to higher-level units and courses. In their sixth grade courses, students learn:
- Mathematical computation, proportions, equations, functions, and statistics.
- Basic elements of literature and comprehension of a variety of literary works as well as effective communication of their own work.
- Concepts and theories related to astronomy, physics, and earth science.
- World history and geography involving pre-civilization, the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, world religions, and much more!
Sixth grade students who take a foreign language learn vocabulary, verb conjugation, numbers, greetings, and basic conversation. They also gain exposure to various cultures whose native language is the one they are learning.

6th Grade Course Structure
Acellus Academy’s courses are designed to give each student a personal learning experience. The courses use the Acellus Learning Accelerator, which tailors course content to each student’s learning needs. Prism Diagnostics and Vectored Instruction technologies detect holes in a student’s background knowledge of a topic and provide the necessary resources for children when necessary.
Students access all their courses through the Acellus App, which uses a student interface that is easy to navigate. Here, students attend class and complete coursework, while the technology tracks their progress and performance.
Enrolling Your 6th Grade Student in Acellus Academy
Parents can enroll their sixth grade students in Acellus Academy year-round. Our open enrollment policy does not constrain families to a certain time frame. Once parents complete the online admissions process, students can begin their Acellus courses right away.
Self-Paced
Each course is self-paced, allowing students to spend extra time as needed to master each lesson concept. Families have the flexibility to plan and adjust their schedule as needed.
Year-Round Enrollment
Students may enroll in Acellus Academy at any time during the year. After enrolling, students will start at the beginning of each course and begin making their way toward graduation.

Vectored Instruction®
Filling Foundational Gaps for Student Success
As students are progressing through a course, sometimes they lack the foundational skills needed to successfully complete the material. If students are stuck, Acellus analyzes which foundational concepts they need to review in order to master the grade level concepts they are struggling with. Vectored Instruction is then prescribed to fill in those gaps, going as deep as required to rebuild their foundational understanding, allowing them to move forward in their education.
